CD is done!

Friday evening through the wee hours of Saturday morning, several of us met at the Filk Dungeon (Dawnya's house) to do the final assembly on the CDs. Joe brought the burned CDs (sounds like a fire disaster happened) up from Provo, as well as 500 cases and labels. Dawnya and Julia, with the help of Rowan and Danica, had spent most of the week before that printing and cutting the liner notes.

There was a glitch when we ran out of toner for the laser printer we were using to print the liner notes. Since it's an older model, there was no toner available anywhere we called in the valley. Luckily, Julia found one refilled cartridge, and then a completely new one that she had thought was the wrong kind! However, we only had 250 liner notes completed, so called off the "assembly party" for Saturday morning, figuring the people who were already there could finish up that many that evening.

We set up an assembly line, with people pulling the cases apart, people putting U cards into the cases and putting them back together, people collating liner notes, people stapling liner notes, people putting labels on CDs, people doing final quality control on liner notes. . . . Lots of work going on. Dianna came over to help; this was much appreciated. Shawn completely re-did the labels and printed them for us.

The first CD we assembled was put aside to go to Charlotte, who couldn't attend because of her knee surgery a few weeks ago.

Here it is: the first assembled copy of UFO: First Contact.

The artwork is by Michael Thill, Dawnya's uncle-in-law.

We are THRILLED that the first 250 of the CDs are assembled. We'll complete the project when we get back from OVFF.
